Brian - TS #1

I sat with Helena and observed a tutoring session with PJ(Professor Kim's son). The tutor started off by gaining PJs interest by making small talk and steering the conversation towards a topic that was discussed in the school work he had brought with him. He then showed a video of said topic, which happened to be a game, and it was fun for PJ. He then transitioned into the reading passages that PJ had brought from school, going back and forth about why certain answers were correct and incorrect. I learned how important it is to break down the material into smaller pieces when tutoring a child.

  1. I am happy to hear that PJ is getting involved and enjoying the activities. I am going to try and provide my tutee's with watching a video as well and see if that can catch his/her attention like it did for PJ
