CP #2
This conversation partner session consisted of the cultural workshop that CIES holds in the lounge on Thursdays. On this particular day, the workshop focused on understanding different beliefs and attitudes held in different cultures. Everyone was divided into groups of around 3-4. No one group had individuals from any of the same countries so as to maximize cross-cultural understandings. First, each individual filled out a survey of attitudes and feelings held by the people in each individual's home country. Then, each group shared their surveys with each other. I believed it was a very effective and educational activity. I got to learn how Saudi Arabians like to argue with each other, and how West Africans are very direct with each other, for example. I also made two new friends from CIES! It was a great experience and a very successful workshop.
