The workshop activity on this session was to create a script.  I had the privilege to work with CiCi a Chinese student.   We discussed what is considered to be polite behavior in her culture.  She advised me that in Chinese culture if you offered a gift or food it should always be refused at the initial offering.  She advised me that only after various offering should the gift be accepted.   I found that to be an interesting custom since it is quite the opposite of the American gift giving custom.  We decided to use this conflict in our script to be presented at the next IC Workshop activity. Our setting will be CiCi offering to buy me coffee at Starbucks and I will respond in the American custom and we will work through the conflict by making a compromise.
