Robert CP #2
On
February 27, 2015, I took Mario to an event that takes place only one time per
year at FSU. This event is called Dance Marathon it is a very popular event
that FSU hold to help raise money for kids. He was not expecting to see a bunch
of college kids dancing for 24 hours straight. Mario ended up getting very
interested and involved in the events going on like dancing, taking pictures, raffles,
and games. He even got to talk with the children that were present and helped
him practice his English. We were both very happy that we got the
opportunity to donate that could possibly save a kids life in the near
future. When Mario found out that the event we attended raised over 1.1.
million dollars he said, “I wish we could go to these events every time we have
to go somewhere”.

I'm happy Mario got to interact with both college students and younger children! Dance Marathon is such a great event, and it illustrates the goodness within our community. I'm sure he was surprised by the amount of people who attend and the strength of the dancers for standing so long, but I'm glad he got in on the fun! I can't wait to take my conversation partners to similar events.
ReplyDeleteYes! It was a very good experience there was so much to do. He got to play poker and other sorts of fun little games and he was very surprised on the amount of people who showed up even at midnight it was packed from door to door! The best part was the amount of money that was able to be raised by the students.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are able to become so close with your CP, and I truly hope to make life long friends and connections through this program. I hope that I can share a fun experience like this with my CP, as you did with yours. 24 hours of dancing sounds so exhausting, were you there the whole time? Tons of coffee, I assume?
ReplyDeleteYes pretty much coffee held us over. I had to work overnight after being there all day which was the worst thing ever!!!! Hopefully next time will be even better than this time!
ReplyDeleteI wish i knew about it earlier. I think it will be good idea, if we could share with each other some events where we could take our conversation partners.
ReplyDeleteYes! I need some new ideas because I have been a lot of different places with him already and want to do something new so I can learn something and teach him the American Culture! I say we should do like a group thing we all get together and get our CP's together and all go do something as a group and have some real interaction and good feedback to provide?!?!
