Topic: Introduction and Diagnostic
My tutee's name is Ali Belhaj. Ali is from Libya in Africa and has studied in Egypt. His studies in Egypt had course materials in English. He has an academic knowledge of English but he is a Level One student because he needs to work on vocabulary, conversation and grammar skills. I had Ali read a short story to determine his ability to comprehend. I had him complete and write several sentences for diagnostic purposes. My feedback involved correcting words that he mispronounced while reading. I also commented on grammatically incorrect sentences. We discussed our backgrounds and family. I think this made the tutee feel comfortable.
