Brian TS #11
My next tutoring session was again with my child tutee, this time focusing again on geometry, time, and the vocabulary related to these fields. The interesting case with my tutee is that he is far advanced beyond his classmates in math skills and calculations, yet trying to keep up in the language, word problems, and vocabulary associated with these calculation. I spent a large portion of the session asking him questions I knew he could easily calculate, but would have to make sense of the words and the way I was asking it. After some schema building, and a quick game on the internet that helps one get familiar with different types of shapes, we went through the lesson with no problems. My tutee seems to be enjoying himself and learning a lot, it has been a great experience so far!
