Matthew CO#2

My second classroom observation took place in Joshua Valentine's Group 3 composition class. Again, the diversity present in the classroom is truly beautiful and the sharing of culture was a really core component to this classroom. Prof. Valentine started the class by asking the students to journal about how their home in Tallahassee is similar and different to their home country. I liked this exchange of culture and found it very fun and enlightening. Prof. Valentine jumbled up some sentences and placed them on the whiteboard for the students to rearrange in a way that made sense grammatically (i.e. "want to store go I the to"---->> "I want to go to the store") The students would then write their guesses on their own mini whiteboards. Prof. Valentine even let me try a few examples on the board with the class. I found this lesson to be both fun and interactive and plan to implement this strategy in my classes.
